”EUROPEAN NETWORKING AS A METHOD FOR FURTHER TRAINING AND EXCHANGE OF IDEAS IN THE LIFELONG LEARNING SECTOR” [Acronym: EU NET].

Short description:
The main challenge EU NET addresses is lower than possible level of European networking of Civil Society Organisations (CSO) active in the lifelong learning, adult education sector.

The project Partners identified the reasons of this situation in the two main areas: Firstly -  the lack of proper/affordable legal and formal solutions supporting networking accessible for the non-profit and/or not-for-profit CSOs. Secondly - the need for more practical examples, more case studies, material for further self-education in the field of European level cooperation and networking of the adult learning CSOs.

The overall aim of the EU NET initiative is to support the European level networking of the Civil Society Organisations active in the lifelong learning sector.

The EU NET continues and builds on the conclusions from the two preceding projects, initiated and coordinated by FAIE: The “First-time international projects realisers support network”, realized in the period 2018 – 2022 and the “Recommendations for international project managers competences recognition and validation for lifelong learning", realized in the period 2019 – 2022.

PROJECTS IN REALISATION

E4ALL_original_logo.png

”E4All. More attractive and inclusive education for all generations".

Short description:
The main challenge E4All addresses is little support available for the adult education providers at designing attractive and inclusive intergenerational education.

The project focuses on supporting adult educators at joining various generations of adult learners in a common educational process that allows learning from each other, learning with each other and learning about each other.

Among the current trends and topics of interest in education addressed by the project, important both for the young and the senior generation of learners are: language learning, taking part in educational mobilities & Erasmus Programme, EU citizenship rights, digital competences & critical thinking, responding to environmental and climate-change challenges, making education more personalised and attractive to the learners.

The project proposed is an element of a long-term strategic plan of the project Partners, aiming at delivering new solutions and tools supporting intergenerational education in the frame of future, common initiatives. The cooperation is concluded with outlining the Exit Strategy for possible follow-up initiatives.

The overall aim is to support the adult educators at designing, delivering and promoting more attractive and inclusive education for all generations of adult learners.

“Boost Social Inclusion in Amateur Arts and Voluntary Culture” [Acronym: BOOST]

Short description:
During the last years, an increased European interest in the potential of amateur arts and voluntary culture in fostering social inclusion can be witnessed. This is reflected in a range of publications and projects focussing on this interconnection (Cultural Heritage Counts for Europe report 2018; European Commission 2018; European Research Partnership on Cultural and Creative Spillovers 2019; Matarasso 2018; Culture Action Europe 2018).

Based on this data, own research, and results of the former Erasmus+ project BRIDGING, the rationale behind this new project is that amateur arts and voluntary culture enhances social inclusion. Many learning providers in the field know for the potential of their work to support social inclusion. Yet, how this can be done and what categories and practical questions need to be considered when working on this objective is often unclear.

The project BOOST aims at empowering learning providers in the sector of amateur arts and voluntary culture to contribute to social inclusion.
The overall aim is to
support lifelong learning providers in the sector of amateur arts, voluntary culture, and heritage to work more consciously and systematic in promoting societal benefits.

On the basis of further research, the project team aims to design, develop and test a Benchmark Tool allowing the learning providers to diagnose the social inclusiveness of their activities and make plans for possible improvements. The Benchmark Tool will be accompanied by Practice Methodes for social inclusion that would directly support an organisation’s development in social inclusion according to the result of its self-assessment.
What is more, a The Manual for the use of the Benchmark Tool and the Practice Methods will be developed so that other learning providers can easily use the Benchmark Tool and the Practice Methods.

Period of realisation: September 2020 – December 2022.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR INTERNATIONAL PROJECT MANAGERS COMPETENCES RECOGNITION AND VALIDATION FOR LIFELONG LEARNING (AER-V)

Short description:
The main challenge the project addresses is little support available for recognition and validation of knowledge, skills and competences of international project managers active in Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in the adult education sector, acquired through formal, non-formal and informal learning.

The overall aim is to support recognition and validation of knowledge, skills and competences of international project managers active in Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in the adult education sector, acquired through formal, non-formal and informal learning.

The direct target group of the project includes the members, workers, co-workers, educators and volunteers of the Third Sector adult education organisations (i.e. Civil Society Organisations, including informal groups, Non-governmental organisations and other non-profit organisations).

The project flow is based on several transnational meetings aiming at good practices and experiences exchange. The project also includes a short-term joint staff training event - Structured Democratic Dialogue Co-laboratory.
As a result there will be recommendations for international project managers competences recognition and validation for lifelong learning developed.
AER-V is an element of a long-term strategic plan of the project core partners, aiming at delivering sustainable support for international cooperation of the adult learning sector CSOs.

Short description:
In order to facilitate the synergy effect – and in order to maximise peer-to-peer learning – we have invited to cooperation two other organisations, sharing similar educational goals. FAIE – as the most experienced in international cooperation, having a wide network of European Partners – became the leader of the educational consortium.

The main aim of the project is to raise the level of knowledge and skills of the consortium members in the field of solutions, models and forms of supporting, promoting and organizing non-formal and informal adult education process on the verge of education and culture.

We plan to reach this aim through 3 educational mobilities – two job-shadowing sessions and one course/training session. There will be 10 adult educators and organisation’s managers participating in each of these educational experiences.

PROJECTS IN REALISATION

“MyEU. Youth in the move Portal to active citizenship of the European Union.

Short description:
The main problem the project addresses is
low level of engagement and democratic participation of the mobile European Union citizens in the political, civic and democratic life of their host EU countries. This problem is especially relevant for the young people, the youth.
The main target group of the project activities will be the youth (18 – 35 years old) already mobile or planning mobility (living/studying/working/volunteering/getting training) abroad.

The project activities will focus on 3 sub-groups of the youth:
1. Youth in vocational training and vocational counseling in their host countries;

2. Youth planning to work/working in another Member State than their country of origin - job mobility of the youth;
3. Youth who could use/use the opportunities to volunteer abroad in order to upgrade and develop their transversal and soft skills (such as group work, communication skills, motivation) that will then help them to find their place in the job market. Volunteering, taking often part in civil society organizations (NGOs) fosters social & political life activity.

As the research shows, that taking part in a mobility abroad helps young people to find their place on the job market. People who experienced living abroad are, in general, also more open, more tolerant, more self-confident and see more benefits of living in wider Europe. This often leads to increased activity in the social, cultural and political life both at local and European level.
The general objective of the MyEU project is to increase the level of engagement and democratic participation of theEuropean Union citizens, especially the youth, in the political, civic and democratic life of their host EU countriesthrough promoting opportunities, ways, tools and benefits for active democratic participation.

PROJECTS IN REALISATION

Bridging social capital by participatory and co-creative culture” (Project acronym: BRIDGING)

Short description:
The decline of trust the last decade is one of the central challenges of our societies. Several surveys by UN, OECD, EU and others indicate that the declining trust refers not only to the usual suspects as governments, companies and mainstream media, but also to NGOs and even more concerning to an increased distrust of other people.

Trust is the fundamental element of social capital in a country, and the World Development Report (2013) shows that countries, where people are more likely to trust others, are also countries where there is less violence and more political stability, accountability and stronger economic growth.  Furthermore, trustful social relations are essential for happiness. The World Happiness Report (2012) indicates trust as one of the major reasons that some countries are happier than others.

Trust among fellow citizens is also essential for the subjective well-being or Quality of Life.

Without trust, institutions don’t work, societies falter and people lose faith in each other. Here, we think, the European sector of participatory culture (amateur arts, voluntary culture and heritage) can make a difference. This sector is, next to amateur sport, the largest civil society sector in the EU member states, and it has in the last decade been the civil society area with the highest rate of expansion in members and new associations. A vast number of voluntary and paid staff and artists are employed in a myriad of associations to provide arts and culture based activities for about 38 pct of the peoples in the member states (Eurobarometer 399, November 2013).

However, the voluntary arts and culture associations could strengthen their societal engagement. Especially in these times, the learning providers in this sector should prioritise new initiatives that can help to counter the current decline of the cohesiveness and mutual trust in our communities.

The overall aim to bridge social capital and to promote inclusion, cohesion and trust by strengthening the participatory and co-creative culture activities in the European sector of amateur arts, voluntary culture and heritage.

PROJECTS REALIZED

“We know what we want. The academy of international projects implementers Poland – South”

The project realization was successfully closed the day of December 31st 2013.
On the subject of international projects planning, developing and realizing we have trained the members, co-operants, workers and volunteers of 34 non-governmental organizations from 3 provinces on the south of Poland: the Śląskie, Małopolskie and Podkarpackie Provinces.

During the advisory sessions there were 9 concepts of international projects developed. There were 16 persons, representing 11 organizations, participating in these sessions.

We have also recorded 14 „Knowledge Pills” containing tips on how to approach to the biggest challenges at international projects realization (you may see them here: http://www.pl-pd.wiemyczegochcemy.pl/pigulki-wiedzy).

What is more – we have implemented and tested a pilotage trainee programme preparing the trainee to  work as a medium-size project assistant. Our trainee was great, we hope to cooperate at our next projects. The trainee programme will be continued.

2013

PROJECTS IN REALIZATION

“We know what we want. The academy of international projects implementers Poland – South”

Project aimed at supporting non – governmental organizations (NGOs) at planning, writing and realizing international projects.

International projects realization is a challenge, still – from the other side – it gives many benefits: it is possible to keep the continuity of the activities realized, it is possible to keep the work places and creating new ones. Thanks to international contacts the level of innovation in the organization rises. You gain new inspiration, you get the access to the world’s best practices, you may exchange thoughts, methods of work, experiences. Your offer for your clients is wider and richer. Your workers, co – workers, volunteers gain great opportunity to upgrade qualifications, rise competences – to vocational development and self – development. This gives them better opportunities on the open job market. Your organization grows and become more professional.

The project is directed to workers, members, co – workers and volunteers of 30 NGOs from the Śląskie, Małopolskie and Podkarpackie Provinces.

In the frame of the project there will be workshops on planning, acquiring co-financing, writing and realising of the international projects. We will show the opportunities that NGOs have to finance their international activities and we will show advantages (and disadvantages) of such activities. We will outline how to find and how to build cooperation with an international partner (partners). We will teach how to plan projects that could be successfully implemented, how to write a project proposal to get co-financing. This is especially important in the context of the new EU financial perspective for the years 2014 – 2020.

Next – we will offer possibility to take part in advisory sessions. During the advisory process a full, complete international project proposal will be created – ready to use for preparing an application for the specific call for proposals.

There will be 2 levels of training groups offered – for the beginners and for persons who already have experience at projects realization. If an organization will be accepted for the advisory stage -  it will also obtain a list of grants available for it in line with the goals of the organization’s statue activities and its development plans. We will also develop some “knowledge pills” together – presenting tips on how to approach the biggest challenges of international projects creating and realizing.
